Another reason that what john said was important to Mark was that he stated John’s words in his first chapter instead of telling us his own words. A question that can arise is, how does John’s word predict/state that Mark agreed with John? We can conclude that Mark agreed with John because he wrote about it and stated the same words to others, if Mark didn’t agreed he could have easily not included John’s word but he choose to include it in his Gospel.

We can also read and understand that Jesus was bringing more than a material aspect to his people and gentiles but was bringing the Holy Spirit something that no other man could bring. In this passage we can understand that John thought that he was not at the same level of Jesus, telling us that he wasn’t even worthy to even untie Jesus sandals. I have baptized you with water but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit”.

In the chapter of Mark 1:7, Mark quotes what John the baptizer said about Jesus “the one who is more powerful than I is coming after me I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals.

Mark, throughout the Gospel of Mark tells us that Jesus was of flesh and skin but also tells us what attributes he had that set him apart from the other humans. Jesus, in the Gospel of Mark is portrayed as more than a man.
